23-24 season's Coach of the Year award... second all-time, behind Ferguson
Pep Guardiola won the Premier League (PL) Coach of the Year award for the 2023-24 season.
The PL Secretariat officially announced on the 22nd (Korea Standard Time) that "Guardiola was selected as Barclays Coach of the Year for the 2023-24 season by playing a historic campaign with Manchester City."
Many predicted Manchester City would win the title this season. However, the competition for the title was fiercer than ever. Manchester City continued to cross the narrow stepping stone by competing with Arsenal and Liverpool until the end of the season. Manchester City was ranked third in the league until early April, but it was close to winning the championship with its last-minute concentration. As the expression "those who have eaten know how to eat," Manchester City sealed its victory with a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the 37th round, and won the league's final match by defeating West Ham United 3-1.
With this season's victory, Manchester City will make history in the PL. There have been only two teams that have won the title three times in a row in the PL history. Manchester United (2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09) won the title three times in a row, while Manchester City won the title three times in a row during the 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23 seasons. Manchester City added its title this season and became the fourth team to win the title ever.안전 토토사이트
This history was etched under Guardiola's leadership. After taking charge of Manchester City in the summer of 2016, Guardiola immediately put his team in the ranks of the best teams in the world. Since Guardiola's inauguration, City has won a total of 17 trophies, including six trophies in the PL, two trophies in the English FA Cup, four trophies in the English Football League (EFL Cup), and one trophy in the UEFA Champions League (UCL).
Guardiola will become the coach of the year for the fifth time. He has won the title five times so far this season, following the 2017-18, 2018-19, 2020-21, and 2022-23 seasons. This is the second-most ever coach of the year award in PL history. The top authority in the category is Sir Alex Ferguson (11 times), and since then Guardiola (five times), Jose Mourinho, Arsen Wenger (three times), and Jurgen Klopp (two times).
Meanwhile, Guardiola said, "I want to share this award. In particular, Coach Mikel Arteta did an amazing job that pushed our team to the limit until the last game," adding, "Of course, Klopp and Unai Emery, who have fought unforgettable battles for many years, have created unbelievable things."
